  • Salmon. Omega-3 fatty acids are important to pregnant women as they help to build the brains and eyes of their fetuses.
  • Broccoli and dark leafy greens. These vegetables provide many of the needed nutrients for a pregnant woman, and should be prioritised in one’s diet if they’re carrying a baby to term.
  1. Keeping Fit Is A Must

Apart from a healthy, supercharged diet, pregnant women should also take the effort to exercise regularly and keep fit and healthy, even during a physically taxing time. 

Regular exercise will help to manage common discomfort and pain during pregnancy, and may increase one’s changes of undergoing natural birth smoothly. Exercise is also vital for post-partum recovery.

If you’re someone who’s never exercised regularly before pregnancy, it will not hurt to check with your doctor how to approach starting a new exercise regime without hurting yourself.

Pregnant women will have to face an increased risk of gingivitis. This is due to hormonal shifts and imbalances that will occur during pregnancy, where increased estrogen levels may interact with bacteria present in plaque. 

This will lead to swollen gums, or even bleeding gums. Scheduling a dental visit during this time may help as a preventative move to avoid dental complications in the future (as well as reducing discomfort!).

5) Wearing Sunscreen

Pregnant women are more susceptible to sunburn and should get into the habit of applying sunscreen that’s SPF 30 or even higher. This is just another way to reduce potential discomfort during a period of high stress and physical strain.

6) Prenatal Care

Going to your doctor for a quick screening could enlighten you on potential medical complications, especially if you have underlying conditions yet to be discovered.
